Privacy Policy

Overview

Speed Readify ("the App") is a speed reading application that helps you read faster using RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) technology. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Data Collection

When you sign in, we process your email address and account identifier to authenticate you and associate your library, preferences and subscription entitlement with your account. Account documents and reading state are stored through Supabase. Hosting requests may also produce operational logs needed to run and protect the service.

What We Do NOT Collect:

  • Location data
  • Browsing history outside the links and content you choose to import
  • Device identifiers for tracking
  • The text of selections, highlights, or podcast transcripts as personalization signals
  • Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data

App Data Storage:

The App stores the following data locally. If you sign in and enable account features, documents, reading progress, feed subscriptions, and the bounded personalization data described below may also sync to your Speed Readify account:

  • Documents: Text content you create, paste, or import for speed reading
  • Reading Progress: Your current position in documents
  • Settings: Supported reading preferences, including layout, reading speed, voice and appearance, sync through your account on compatible clients. Devices and browsers also retain local preferences, caches and pending changes.
  • Images: Photos you capture or import may be sent for text extraction. Saved documents can retain source files and cover images with your account.

The iPhone app uses Apple's SwiftData framework for local reading data. The website uses browser storage for authentication, preferences, pending sync changes and deletion receipts. Signed-in sync and personalization requests are transmitted securely to Speed Readify's account services.

Explore and Daily Catch Up Personalization

For signed-in readers, we store topic preferences and bounded events such as impression, open, save, hide, completion, podcast play, Classic add/read, and Catch Up skip or completion. These records use stable content references and action categories; they do not include article text, selected text, URLs, transcript text, or account credentials.

Daily Catch Up editions store their item order, minimal display details, estimated duration, and completion state so the same edition and progress can appear across devices. Raw personalization events and completed editions are retained for up to 90 days, then removed in bounded maintenance batches. Active editions are not removed. This account data is deleted when the associated account is erased.

AI-Powered Text Extraction (Premium Feature)

If you use the Premium AI text extraction feature to convert images to text:

  • Image data is transmitted to Mistral AI's servers for processing
  • Images are processed under the AI service provider’s applicable data-handling terms
  • Mistral AI processes images according to their own privacy policy
  • This feature is entirely optional and requires explicit user action

We recommend not using this feature for images containing sensitive personal information.

Camera and Photo Library Access

The App may request access to:

  • Camera: To capture images of books, documents, or other text sources for AI extraction
  • Photo Library: To import existing images for AI text extraction

These permissions are used solely for the purpose of capturing text content you want to read. Photos are processed locally or sent to the AI service (if you choose AI extraction) and are not used for any other purpose.

Subscriptions

Speed Readify offers a Premium subscription with the following terms:

  • Price: The standard US monthly subscription is $11.99 USD. Local prices, preserved subscriber prices, and eligible offers may differ; the App Store displays the applicable price before purchase.
  • Free Trial: Available to eligible subscribers when offered. The App Store displays the trial duration and renewal terms before purchase.
  • Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings
  • Payment: Charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase

Subscription management and payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information.

Third-Party Services

Apple Services:

  • App Store for distribution and subscription management
  • iCloud may synchronize supported Apple-device preferences; account library sync is provided by SpeedReadify through Supabase.

Account and AI services:

Supabase provides authentication and account storage. Vercel hosts the web and API services, and its AI Gateway routes supported AI requests. Inworld provides narration and supported hosted transcription. Questions, selected reading context, narration text or audio are sent only as needed for the feature being used. Generated audio, voice previews and artwork may be cached for reuse. On-device transcription runs locally when supported; hosted fallback requires sending audio for processing.

Mistral AI:

Data Security

  • Local iPhone data uses iOS security features; browser data depends on your browser, device and profile security
  • API communications use HTTPS encryption
  • Signed-in account data is protected by account-scoped access controls

Children's Privacy

Speed Readify is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App and updating the "Last Updated" date.

Account Export and Deletion

Website Settings provides a reading-data download and downloads of available original files. The reading-data file is not a complete backup: it excludes generated audio and cover files, and changes that have not synced.

Account deletion requires recent verification and explicit confirmation. Cleanup removes account-owned reading records, private stored files and associated resources before erasing the sign-in account. Shared public resources can remain available to other readers. Failed cleanup is retried or marked as needing attention rather than reported as complete.

A minimal deletion job records the account identifier, processing state, timestamps and error category so cleanup can resume. The server stores a hash of your private deletion receipt; its status access expires after 30 days. The browser keeps the receipt locally so you can recover it after sign-out. Clearing site data removes that local copy. Do not share your receipt.

Account deletion does not cancel subscriptions billed by Apple, remove files you downloaded, or remotely erase every device or browser cache. Manage your subscription separately and remove local copies from devices you no longer use. Contact support if cleanup needs attention.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. You can manage local and account data by:

  • Deleting documents within the App
  • Resetting Explore preferences or deleting your Speed Readify account
  • Removing local app data or clearing Speed Readify site data in your browser; this does not delete your server account or copies you downloaded elsewhere
  • Managing subscriptions through your Apple ID settings
